About the Symposium
Multiphase flow, microfluidics, advanced materials and CFD sit at the heart of process, energy, biomedical and electronics engineering– from droplet-based synthesis and rainfall physics to lab-on-chip diagnostics. MFM-AI 2026 brings together CFD modelers, experimentalists, materials scientists and data scientists on a single national platform, pairing rigorous science with hands-on, industry-scale simulation training
Multiphase flows and microfluidic technologies have applications in energy, biomedical engineering, drug delivery, chemical processing, environmental technologies, and advanced materials. Molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulations enable the design of advanced materials for drug delivery, gas separation, energy storage, catalysts, and sustainable technologies. With CFD, performance computing, machine learning, and AI offers opportunities for multiscale modeling, process optimization, and accelerated materials discovery.
The symposium will feature invited talks, technical sessions, and interactive discussions involving academia, industry, and research institutions. It aims to strengthen research networks and promote interdisciplinary collaboration toward innovative and sustainable technologies through modeling, simulation, experimentation, advanced materials, and AI-driven approaches.
Chemical Engineering
The Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Dharwad was established with a vision to create a center of excellence in education and research in chemical and allied engineering fields. The department offers undergraduate (BTech) and postgraduate (Ph.D.) programs, with a strong emphasis on core chemical engineering principles, computational tools, and interdisciplinary applications.
Our faculty is engaged in high-quality research in areas such as colloids and interfaces, soft matter, energy systems catalyst, process modeling and simulation, electrochemical systems, reaction engineering, and materials science. The department actively collaborates with national and international institutes, and encourages innovation and entrepreneurship among students. With a growing infrastructure that includes modern laboratories, advanced research facilities, and a student-focused learning environment, the department aims to train the next generation of engineers and researchers to address the technological challenges of the future.
